THE COMING CONTEST,

ASHBURTON, last -night.

The committee of the band contest to he held here on October 9th and 10th have decided to give prizes amounting to about £225 for the test selection. The amounts are:—lst prize £6O, 2nd £3O, 3rd £2O, 4th £lO. The prizes for tho quickstep are:—lst prize £25, 2nd £ls, 3rd £ll, 4th £ll. For tho quartettes and solos gold and silver medals will be awarded. Entries close on July 6th.
