At the time of the numi*cr~Vitey was placed in an asylum as insane. Tho medical evidence showed that ho was suffering from delusional mania. Ho recently recovered his sanity. At the trial prisoner made a statement th'at tho insanity was produced by mental troubles occasioned by the girl. Ho did not fed as a guilty man, nor did ho boar a guilty conscience. It had pleased God to doprivo him of reason, and Ho would not hold him responsible for what lie did in that state.
