A lifebuoy with lights attached was thrown to him, and he was seen about 40i*t swimming for the buoy. A heavy sea struck him and he sank. The man shipped as Charles Roberts, but ft is stated that his real name is Harold llolfe, formerly of 11.M.5. Prometheus.

During the gale on Monday afternoon a gust struck the First Church Hall in course of construction and snapping the braces hurled the heavy framework of the roof into the middle of the building. No one was working there at the time. The wind also ripped the ornamental work from the steeple of the First Church. Ihe damage done is estimated at £l5O.
