A\ correspondent signing himself “Freetrade” writes as follows:
“I am enclosing two price lists I have just received from Home, which I thought might be interesting to some of your readers. Considering the. distance the imported article has to travel to the English ; consumer, there seems to be some grounds for wonder at the high prices of mutton, etc., here. ' Following are the pricelists:—
Prime Ox. Beef —Sirloin, Old lb; wing rib, 6£d; topsides;' Gjd ; silversides, Old; aitchbone, Gd ; ribs, GRI; top ribs, Gfd; back ribs, 6-}d; flanks, 4id and od; briskets (for pressing), l^id; gravy beef, od and Gd; shins, 2ld. • ' Selected Mutton —Hind-quarters, old lb; fore-quarters; od ; legs, Gd ; shoulders, sjd; loins, o)d; necks, Id and sd; breasts, 3d; chops, od and Gd; cutlets, Gd. Canterbury Da mb—Hind-quarters, 7£d lb; fore-quarters. Old; legs, Sd; shoulders, "id; loins, 7id; necks, 5d and Grl; breasts, od; chops, Bd.
