Tempestuous weather was experienced yesterday, especially on the West Coast. The steamer llarawa, which left Ouehunga for New Plymouth yesterday afternoon, was unable to cross the bar until S a.m. to-day.

The westerly gale is still continuing, and shipping is being generally delayed. Several vessels arriving today fnm various places, including the Talune from Fiji, report having experienced very rough passages. DUNEDIN, yesterday.

Later. —A sudden change occurred in the weather at noon. There s now brilliant sunshine, and the weather is quite warm. INVERCARGILL, yesterday.

Extremely boisterous weather was experienced during the night, considerable damage being done to fences, hoardings, windows, and scaffoldings. The wind has abated,but it is very cold, and light snow falls at intervals.

GORE, last night.

The weather throughout the lower part of Otago has become very cold and bleak, during the past few days, frequent snow and sleet showers having fallen. The rivers are all in a state of flood.

WANGANUI, last night. The weather is bitterly cold, and heavy rain is frequently falling.
