PERSONAL.

Prior to his departure for a trip to the Islands, Mr. W. G. Fraser' was met on the wharf by Mr, G. E. Dartou, secretary of the Wharf Laborers’ and Lightermen’s Union, who presented him with a travelling case on behalf of the union. The following letter accompanied the present: “On behalf of the wharf laborers, lightermen, watermen, and stevedores employed at this port, wc sincerely regret your severing your connection with local shipping interests. We have always found you approachable in matters of business, and extremely fair in your dealings with the men. In asking your acceptance of this small token of our esteem, we trust you will bo as successful iu your new sphere as in this. Assuring you again of our heartiest best wishes, we remain, yours sincerely, J. Harding, President; G. Darton, Secretary.” Mr. Fraser suitably responded.

The many friends of Mrs. Elizajidtli Harvey ivill rogret to hear of her death, at her son-in-law’s (Mr. H. Harding) residence, Grey-street, oil Saturday evening. On Friday night she was taken ill, tlic trouble being obstruction of tlic intestines. Prior to that time deceased was in the best of health and spirits. Three married daughters are left and -two sons, one of whom is married. A wedding of great interest took place at Moliaka on Wednesday last, ’when Mjss Webster was married to Mr. M. Mclver.
