Victoria Domain should bo in excellent condition this afternoon for the opening game in tlie Rugby Union’s competition when Kaiti-City will meet AVest End. Play commences at 3 o’clock. Tho following players have been selected to play in the match under Australian rules this afternoon Te Ran v. DUNEDIN, last night. The selectors of the South Island football team which will play against tho North Island at Christchurch on Juno 3rd, met this evening for the purpose of selecting tho players. Tlio names of 25 players have been provisionally selected and will be forwarded to the New Zealand Union, lho men will be called upon to sign a declaration to the effect that they have not' made any agreement to go home with the proposed professional team and that in the event of their being picked for either inter-island team or for a team which will visit Austraj lia they will undertake not to go to England with the professional team. If any refuse to sign the agreement they will not be allowed o play in I either of the matches—-hence the action of the selectors in choosing so I many.
THE PROFESSIONAL TEAM. ... AVELLINGTON, last night.
The New Zealand Rugby Union resolved to-night to delete clause four of the undertaking required to be made by players selected for the North v. South match at Christchurch on June 3rd. This clause was as follows: —“That if I am approached by any person or persons with a request that I should become a member of any such team I shall at once notify the said Union of the fact and advise the said Union of the name of any person or persons so approaching me.”

AVELLLINGTON, last night.
At a meeting of the management committee of the New Zealand Rugby Union to-night correspoildence" was read from the Poverty Bay and Hawke’s Bay Unions regarding the proposed inclusion of part of AVairoa County ill' Poverty Bay. It was decided that the boundaries, remain as already defined. A letter with reference to the boundary between Hawke’s Bay and the Bush Union district was referred to a sub-commit-tee for a report.
