SHIPPING.

The U.S.S. Co.’s Tarawera returns from Auckland to-morrow afternoon, and proceeds south. Tho U.S.S. Co.’s Haupiri arrived from Napier yesterday morning, and left for coast bays and Auckland at noon. . The s.s. Putiki is expected this morning from 'Wanganui. Tho Tyser steamer Niwnru arrives from Napier on Wednesday to load for London.

Tho U.S.S. Company’s Waikaro arrives from Napier and South this morning, and leaves for Auckland. Passengers for North: Misses Boyce, Buchanan, Dalton, Williams, Image (2), Mesdames Herd, Bridgor, Fraser and infant, Messrs. Image, W. Cl. Fraser, O’Keefe, Clark, Curtis, Rev. H. 'Williams. -- Tho Shaw, Savill. and Albion Co. s s.s. Delphic arrives from Auckland on Tuesday evening, and leaves for Napier after loading. The schooner Gisborne left Tairua on Wednesday week, was brought up under Skipper Island that afternoon, and sheltered there,from a head wind till the following. evening. Coining across the Bay* of Plenty a S.S.L. gale was encountered. White Island was passed on Friday morning, and the vessel was off Cape Runaway the following morning, meeting tho full force of tlio gale. Ivawakawa roadstead was reached at noon on Saturday. The vessel left on Tuesday night with a moderate wind. Variable winds and calm seas were met up the coast, and Gisborne was reached at S p.m. on Thursday, the schooner coming in at 1 a.m. yesterday. After discharge it is intended to return to Tairua for a further sliipmont of timber. On the present trip she brought 54,000 ft of timber for Messrs. Mackrell and Colley and 3000 ft for Messrs.- Black Bros. The scow Southern Isle left AYliangaroa on Friday evening, ,10tli inst., with the wind to westerly, and East Capo was passed on Sunday night, and the following morning Tolaga was reached, the wind coming in strong from the south. The vessel sheltered there for three days,' and was compelled to return to East Cape and rounded it oil Thursday evening. Ivawakawa was reached the same night, and the' vessel lay there on Friday and Saturday. . While there the chain carried away and an anchor was lost, and the foresail was split in several places. The vessel cruised about until the wind was over, and left for Gisborne, arriving at 10 a.m. yesterday: Her cargo consisted of 71,000 ft of timber for Messrs. Peaeocke and Co.
