Definite nows'lms been received today of the intontion of tlio Oceanic Co. to withdraw from the SydnoySan Francisco mail service. Mr. Jones, Sydney mnnnger of the company, interviewed, statotd that he Imd received a cablegram from the directors to that effect, and instructing him to dispose of all property here and wind up tlio affairs of the company in Sydney without delay He intends to close the office by Juno 30tlii Mr.' Jones declared that tlio primary cause of the withdrawal was tlio failure of tlio Ships Subsidy Bill to pass Congress, helped along in groat measure by the unfortunate trouble *7into which the steamers got. although it must not bo forgotten that for years they ran with cloek-liko regularity.
