MR. ANDREW MACK
At His Majesty’s next Monday will lie inaugurated a new season under the management of Mr J. C. Williamson, with the first apearance in this town of Andrew Mack, one of the foremost delineators of Irish character .on the stage of the present day. supported by his own company of players. Since the date Dion Boucicault visited Australasia, some twenty years ago, no really adequate representations of Irish plays have been given in this country. Since then, a new generation has arisen, and the oldfashioned Irish drama has undergone many important changes. Playgoers will now be afforded an opportunity of witnessing an entirely new and delightful form of entertainment, which has attained • immense popularity throughout America, and Australia fully endorsed that sentiment two years ago, when almost unprecedented enthusiasm was inspired by this popular young artist m such works as “Tom Moore,” a play of the most fascinating romantic charm, which has attained to the greatest popularity wherever presented.
The Gisborne season is limited. to three nights only. On Monday, “Tom Moore,” a drama founded on the life of Ireland’s favorite poet, will be presented, and on 'Tuesday, “The Way to Kemnare,” which in its charming locale presents opportunities that are fully availed of for the display of gems of Irish scenery. The farewell production will be a delightful Irish romance “Jack Shannon.” A special feature of all these plays is the introduction of Irish ballads sung by Mr. Andrew Mack, who is the possessor of a sweet tenor voice. The box plans are now on view a. Miller’s.
