SUPREME COURT.

The half-yearly. sitting of the Supreme Court in Gisborne was concluded at the Courthouse yesterday, before Mr. Justice Denniston. CIVIL BUSINESS.

The case David Morrison (Mr. F. \V. Nolan) v. The Gisborne Times Coy. (Mr. ‘ Blair), claim for £3OOO damages for libel, was adjourned to next sitting.

In tho matter of \V. L. Rees (in person) against the proprietors of Manukawhiti'kitiki D 2, and other blocks, for £IOOQ damages and payments totalling £399 16s, judgment was entered in terms of a settlement filed.

The case of the executive of the late Wm. Cooper (Mr. V. Barker) v. John Coleman and a number of natives, to determine the land which should go to the successors of Eru Pohatu, was held over by His Honor for further consideration.

Frederick Hall (Mr. F. W. Nolan) v. the East Coast Timber and Trading Coy., for damages, interest, and order to sell securities—The representatives of the parties appeared, and stated that the case had been settled out of Court.

CHAMBERS,

Hugh J. Finn v. W- L. Clayton (Mr. Mann); motion for review of taxation—Motion dismissed, with £1 Is costs.

Argument was heard in the case of Smith v. Smith. His Honor will take the papors to Auckland and deliver judgment there. The case Dunlop v. Lysnar was also argued, and judgment will also be given in Auckland.
