Tho Fiji Government is calling for specifications of a steamer for the maintenance of tho inter-island service on the termination of the present agreement on October 31st, 1910. It is proposed to pay a subsidy of £3OOO per annum for a'term of seven years for the performance of the service by a suitable vessel, \ Madame Clara Butt is having an enormous time throughout England on her farewell tour, and wherever she goes the houses are sold out beforehand. She gives her farewell Concert in t-lie Albert Hall, London, on the 29th dune, and it promises to be a gigantic affair. Her Australian tour will commence in Melbourne on the stli Sejrtember, and Messrs, d. and N. Tait’s plans are to commence the New Zealand tour some-, time in Ncivemher,
