At Victoria Domain this afternoon tlie senior competition of the Poverty Bay Rugby Union will be commenced, when Kaiti City will meet West End. Play commences at 3 o’clock sharp. The AVest End team to play Haiti City this afternoon will he picked from the following:—Tate, Forbes, Henderson, AV. Roderick, Brown, S. Roderick, Stuart, Wi Friday; Rewai. WELLINGTON, yesterday. The Post states that the proposal to send a professional team of footballers to England is being perfected quietly, and it is stated everything is to be completed early next month. The forward section of the team is reported to have been practically selected, and most of the backs have been picked, although none of the Wellington backs have vet been approached. The project is said to have been originated by a New Zealand player, who opened negotiations with the Northern Union, and khert began to collect a team, in which task little difficulty has been experienced.
