MATAWHERO STOCK SALE.
There was a good attendance oi buyers at the Matawhero stock salo yesterday. Common, Shelton, and Co. and T/algety and Co. submitted a yarding of --JUU sheep. The whole yarding was cleared under the hammer, anil there was especially keen competition for lambs. Only three pigs were sold, at 13s each. Only a few cattle were offered, a small pen of bullocks selling at 3s. The following prices were obtained for the shcejj submitted: j-5 wethers and maiden ewes 14s, 214 store wethers 15s 7d, 167 do. 14s iUu ill) culi lambs 3s Gd, 140 small do. 5s Id, 39 wothers and maiden ewes 10s 00, 434 lambs 7s 9d, 342 medium lambs 8s sd, 414 empty ewes 9s Id, 379 owes 7s, 322 lambs Gs 9d. About 10,000 ; slieep were yarded by Williams and Kettle and the Loan and Mercantile Company. The sale was brisk throughout, and most of the yarding changed hands under the hammer. At the wool sales the following were the average prices realised for the fleece portions of the clips named Ivikorangi 10R1, Home Hills 11 id, Reid 13R1. - The Wool Importers’ Association decided not to limit the quantities for the remaining series. Australian wheat cargoes sold from 32s 6£d to 335. _ At the tallow auctions 21 to casks were offered and 1375 sold. Mutton is at 36s 6d, medium 31s 6d; beef, fine 35s 9d, medium 33s 6d. Lyell Company returns for the half-year show a record net profit of £264,935. A dividend of Is 3d and a bonus of _2s 3d pdr share was declared, absorbing £210,000.
