IMPORTANT MAORI MEETING
Pres 3 Association AUCKLAND, yesterday. On the re-assembling of Maoris at Wan hi yesterday, Mr. Kaihu moved a resolution placing the appointment of tlio Executive Committee in the bauds of Malnita. This meeting with opposition, he said. 0110 quarter of the Maori population’ supported him: if tiie otlfbrs would not co-operate lie would personally complete the object of the meeting. When asked how he could--accomplish a union without three-fourths of the Maoris, Kaihu said • “My strength is union under King Maiiuta with God the Supreme, to assist!. I will not go hac.v ; I go forward.” Though nothing definitely was fixed, what is stated to 1,0 a self-appointed committee will evidently hold sway, their actions having the support of a majority ot those - present, tho concerted union having apparently resolved''itself into a triumvirate, comprising Mahuta, Jyaihau, and Taingakawa. -
