Press Association. DUNEDIN, last night. When a school hoy puts on his cadet uniform is he under the control of the Education or of the Defence Department? That is a question members of tlie Otago Education Board seem to wish to have more light thrown on. To-day, they considered a communication from tlie Secretary of the Education Department, asking them if they had done anything in the matter of the audit of cadet corps’ . capitation accounts. Tlie writer drew attention to section 29 of the Public School Cadet Corps Regulation, wlncli states that the joijimanding officer of every cadet corps shall keep a full and con eel account of-the receipts and expenditure of the funds of the corps, and shall submit tlio same when requiied to the auditor appointed by tlio Education Board of the district. Mr. Israel expressed joy at this iecognition of the Education authorities saying that when on previous occasions they had asked for infoimation on such points tliej had been politely told by cadet officers to mind their own business.
