Press Association. WELLINGTON, yesterday
Judgment was*given this morning by Judge Cooper on a motion for a writ of mandamus to compel the Napier Borough Council to supply water from the municipal supply of the Borough to the Government buildings at Napier, or alternately for a writ of injunction restraining defendant's from cutting of. '.'tJni supply. The Court held that'the Government had a right to expect the municipality to supply a public building with water from the public service so long as the Government was prepared to pay a reasonable charge. Defendants had, without reasonable grounds, cut off the supply, ami the Court had power to make the injunction claimed. An order for injunction was issued, with ten guineas costs. His Honor during the judgment expressed the opinion that the Borough water meter did not register correctly, and that, the Government had been asked to pay for what it did, not consume.
