VICE-REGAL VISIT.
At tbe meeting of the Borough Council last night, details in connection with the Governor’s visit were discussed and arranged. Te Karaka settlers held a meeting last night to consider what should be done during the Governor’s visit to open the railway to the AVaikohu Bridge. The meeting unanimously decided that the Governor should leave Gisborne at 2 p.m. on. Tuesday and proceed to Te Karaka, and on. to tlie new portion of the line. Returning again to Te Karaka, the ceremony of opening the line - would, be carried out at Te Karaka station, and the customary speeches made. His, Excellency would then adjourn to the * hotel, where afternoon tea would, he provided for the party, which null: then return to Gisborne. The programme is subject to modification il: necessary.
The Gisborne Rifles have been ordered to parade at 9.30 a.m. on the 21st to attend the reception of His Excellency, and to be present at the presentation of prizes by the Governor. The East. Coast Mounted Rifles will parade to act as an escort to the Governor on May 20tli.
