A l’etonc candidiatc for municipal honors gravely informed liis audience the other evening that, ho “had no future deeds to boast of," One of the most serious matters affecting land in Taranaki is, in the opinion of Air. Symes, AI.H.R., the spread of noxious weeds. The Alaoris, lie informed the Acting-Premier recently, wero not the greatest sinners, for t hiiiy. wore Kufoppans. too, who were dodging all they could, and it would pay the country to put more inspectors on. Speaking of ragwort, lie detailed some of liis own experiences, which wour to show that pulling and cutting the plant w r as of no avail; nor did he find it any use turning sheep on to it, as they would not eat it. The only way to get rid of the weed was to poison it. “Ragwort,” he added, “is going to be one of the greatest curses in this country, and -will mean, if not- properly checked, the ruin of many a dairy farmer in Taranaki.” .
