TINIROTO NOTES.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) The last week lias been in every sense of the word ideal weather, when ,ve compare it with the week before, and the work of crutcliing, etc., is now in full swing in tlieso parts. Several toilers of the axe have been passing through Tiniroto to their reflective contracts. As an instance about twenty men went in to I’uakituri Station last week to go into their respective contracts. The Hike Club has started to fire for the field glass presented to the Club by the President, Sir. H. Lysnar, also for Mr. 11 St. Ledger’s prize. A match takes place on Saturday, 11th inst. The shooting season opened in rain, but in spite of it all a few enthusiastic shots were out and got a fair bag of ducks. It lias been reported here that a Debating Society is likely to be instituted in a. short time .. The property owned by Mr. F. bysnar in Tiniroto has been sold to Mr. .1. Barr at a good figure, that gives promise that Tiniroto land is starting to go up in value. A native named IV ha re Marumua had a narrow escape from being drowned in the Ruakituri during the last flood, his horse falling on papa in the centre of the river. Mr. D. Howell and family are reported to lie taking their departure from Tiniroto. The wing of the Hurimua Mounted Rifles is about to build a rifle range in Tiniroto. It is reported the Busby Knoll road is at present blocked with slips. As this is a very important (and the future dray road to Wiakaremoana) road, it should have the attention of the Department in seeing that a man is kept on to keep “all clear.” The bridge, liy the way, I am told, lies something like the machinery at thp Panama Canal—an unwritten history, without words, and a proof of how little the Department care what is done with that particular work, which should have been completed last January, and which lies to-day an unstarted work.
