THE LATE MR J. A. MARDING.
A large number of flags on business promises and shipping wore flown at half-mast yesterday as a mark of respect to tlio lato Mr. Harding. An impromptu meeting of tin* Gisborne Bowling Club was held yesterday morning and it was decided, in view of the late President’s death, to postpono all bowling matches which wore to have been played this week. At the meeting of Lodge Turanganui, U.A.0.D., last night sympathetic reference was made to tlio deceased gentleman, his long service to tho licdgo as senior trusteo boing mentioned. It. was resolved in silenco to go into mourning and to adjourn tho Lodge for a week. A largo number of friends yesterday conveyed personal expressions of sympathy to tho widow and family at their residence, Kaiti. The remains of the lato Mr. Harding will be intered at the Makaraka oemotery on Sunday afternoon. The Druids service will be gone through at the graveside. It is expected that the Hon. James Carroll will be present.
