At the Police Court yesterday morning, before Mr. Barton, S.M., John Young, an elderly man, was charged with being found drunk in

William McGregor Dick, who appeared on Tuesday, charged with the theft of a missing purse and was remanded till yesterday for the probation officer’s report, was admitted to probation for six calendar months. His Worship said that he believed that accused’s intentions were honest as shown by the evidence of Mr Ambridge. Apparently something occurred which diverted him from the right path in converting some of tho money to his own use. Dick was ordered to pay the costs of the prosecution, amounting to 12s 9d, and to refund the money taken from the purse, £2 10s sd. He was strongly advised to leave liquor alono in the future.
