Somo rabbit-trapping statistics make impressive reading (says the Gore Standard). One trapper's cheque for a fortnight was £24; fne trappers provided a carter with a daily load of between 900 and 1000 rabbits, and one man’s catch for a single day totalled 243 rabbits. Our informant assures .us that these figures are authentic, so that the chaos caused in the ranks of the “trade” by the refusal of the freezing works to receive rabbits can be understood.

RE-NAMING POVERTY BAY. The following names have been suggested as a substitute for Poverty Bay, and residents of the district are invited to vote for the name that seems to them most appropriate. It will be seen that the old name Poverty Bay, is included, and those who desire that it should remain will, of course, vote for it. Voters are kindly requested to cut out the voting paper, sign it, and address it to 1-lis Worship the Mayor, who has been good enough to act as Returning Officer in this election.
