On Tuesday morning last at St. Paul’s Church, Wairoa, Afiss Prudence Webber, eldest daughter of Air. H. W. Webber, was married to Mr. W. C. King, Assistant Stock Inspector. Miss Catherine" AVood, who is the general secretary of tlie Guild of St. Barnabas, an Anglican institution for the training o’f nurses with headquarters in London and branches all over the world, is on a visit to New Zealand.' Aliss AVood is on » tom of the world in the interests of the guild. Captain Clayton, of the Salvation Army, was welcomed home to Gisborne on ’Sunday, after several years’ absence on furlough. Mr. J. B. Merritt, editor of the New Zealand Poultry Journal, who is leaving Grcymouth for Christchurch, at which city the journal will in future bo published from, was presented by the congregation of Holy Trinity Cluircli with a memento of the. esteem in which lie is held, and iii recognition of the services • rendered the church.
The death occurred at Groyniouth yesterday of William Jvilgour, qnc o.f the pioneers of the district, in tbe sixties. He bad the . largest drapery establishment on the West Coast. He -ivas widely known and highly esteemed. Police Inspector Wilson left Greymouth yesterday for Wanganui, his

BLANCHE ARRAL. Mudiimo Blanche Arral and her concert party terminated a plienomonally successful season at Napier last night. The Gisborne season will con. niciico to-morrow evening,, at His Majesty’s Theatre, anil tile second and last concert will bo given on Friday evening. For tile opening recital an excellent programme has boon arranged, consisting of excerpts from famous modern operas and well known songs. Tlio oporatic selections to bo given by Madanio Arral will include arias and scenes from “The Huguenots,” “Galatlieo,” "Faust” and “Mignon” including tlio famous “Polacca,” in which this celebrated soprano croated a groat furore throughout Australia and New Zealand. Particular interest attaches in Mmlanio’s ajipea ranee from the fact that these recitals will be given with appropriate stage settings and costumes. Tlio latter arc said to be exceedingly handsome and costly. Tlio accompaniments’ arc played by a capable orchestra, and instrumental soli will bo rendered by Ilorr Panns, an eminent violinist. Tlio box plan is now on view at Mr. Millor’s.
