Roth spea ers dial; with the subject very lucidly and the discussion which followed was an animated one and carried the debate to the unusual hour of half past ten. The voting was 18 to 11 in favor of Mr. Dalton’s view and a number of members refrained from voting. Sir Robert Stout’s lecture “Astronomy of to-day,” was the item set down for next Monday evening, but owing to Sir Robert’s absence, it was decided to ask the Rev. Herbert AVilliams to deliver his lecture on that evening. Failing his convenience, the next subject for debate will be taken, in which the leaders chosen are Messrs. W. Lissant Clayton and J. A. Connell. That the meetings of the societyare becoming more and more interesting is shown by the rapidly inei easing membership. Seven new
members were elected last night including five ladies, thus bringing the tctal membership to over 90.
