BLANCHE ARRAL.
Regarding Madame Blanclic-Arral, wlio is to give concerts in Gisborne on May. Bth and 10th. an exchange says:—Madame Blanche Arrnl stands alone and incomparable in New Zealand’s experience. Her voice is liquid and pure as a bird’s, perfect in quality, superb in timbre. She has in the highest degree the faculty of arousing enthusiasm in an audience. Her sweet temperament and delightful personalty combine to produce the witchery and magnetism of lier ■.art. A great actress, as well as a great cautatric, she lives her songs. Her vivacity is contagious, and altogether charming. She presents the cultivated . restraint of a gentlcwo--1 man with the enthralling abandon ol :
a great artiste. In opera she is unapproachable. Who lias not seen and hoard her ns Cannon can have little true idea of tho alluring splendor of Bizet’s genius Interpreted by her art, Gounod lives and glows ns never before in Now Zealand. She is sn utterly artistic—-using a word much abused by barbarous usage—that the illusion is established and preserved without any need of ordinary stage accessories. And withal, she is French —one of the most famous and brilliant exponents of tho French school of operatic vocalism. But in occasional ballads, she is no wliit loss effective. She sings Tosti’s “Goodbye” so that this song—pretty threadbare, no doubt, but popular—becomes angelic. Madame Arral, in short, is a great and delightful opportunity for all who like to ho made aesthetically joyous and unusually glad.”
Tho Gisborne season will consist of two concerts, the first one to take place on Wednesday next at His Majesty’s Theatre. The box plan will open on Friday morning at Mr. Miller's.
