INSTALLATION OF MAYOR.

1 TO-DAY’S CEREMONY. 1 n- 'Councillors takes place at tile Munii cipal Chambers at noon to-day. The b ceremony is rather an impressive one, , and the declaration, read and signed b by the chosen administrators of our 7 civic laws pledges them irrevocably s to the platform laid down in their addresses to the electors. The Mayor - and Councillors each declare that t they will faithfully and impartially, r and according to the best of their i skill and .judgment, execute the po--1 wers and authroities vested in them i as Mayor and Councillors of the 80-1 1 rough of Gisborne, by virtue of the !< Municipal Corporation Act, 1900. ’ For the initial [tart of the ceremony t the chair is taken by one of the ' Councillors. It may be remembered that several years ago the Mayor of one of the southern Boroughs refused to sign the declaration, holding that the Acting-Mayor had no right to the chair. No such trouble is anticipated to-day. The veteran Councillor, Mr. James Wliinray, will doubtless be elected to the Mayoral chair, and in one of his happy speeches will introduce His Worship, and vacate in his favor. The Mayor will give a short address, and the Council, following a very old custom, will repair to the nearest Councillor’s abodo and pledge the health of the Council.
