FOOTBALL.
A balance-sheet recently adopted by the Wairoa Sub-Union should a crodit balance of Cl 1 10s (id. THE COMING SEASON. (By Drop-Kick.) Everything promises for a most .successful season, the various clubs intimating that their players are already in training and ready to take the field in good condition when t he season starts. It is reported that all the senior teams are stronger than they have been for years past, and some interesting games are sure, to be witnessed. The Takitiinu team was amalgamated with Huia, and should now present an exceedingly strong front. Kaiti-City are also stronger than usual, and last year’s victors, West End, report several new players.
POVERTY BAY RUGBY UNION. The first meeting of tho Management Committee of the above Union took place last night in the Masonic Hotel, all the delegates being present. ■Mr W. Milh-f was again elected chairman for the oil sunn* season. The first business was that of boundaries, and it was finally decided to as'k the N.Z. Rugby Union at their annual meeting on May 2nd to include that part of Wairoa County north of the Moliaka river to the two counties at present, Cook and Waiapu. A letter was received from the Hockey Association, asking for per mission to use both grounds at t„e Domain oil Thursdays, as they have now four strong teams under their new scheme. It was decided to grant this subject to conditions to bo arranged by a sub-committee, consisting of Messrs Miller, Wauchop, and Cowan.
It was decided to start the season on May 11th with the usual interesting match Maori v. Pakelia, and Messrs Kaipara and Pini were appointed to select the Maori team,and Messrs Sheriff, Waucliop, and Rowe the Pakelia team. Several other minor details were gone into.
