To the Editor of the Gisboinc Times. Sir, —The Gisborne Churches have agreed to make a collection, in aid of the Chinese Famine Fund, at the morning service on the second —unda-'' in May, >* o shall be glad of your help in making this as public as possible. A recent cable stated that 5000 Chinese were dying daily, and it is estimated that three millions will perish before tlie situation is . effectively grappled with. Heartirending stories are told. of the horrifying expedient to which the victims have had to resort in order to allav the pangs of starvation. I lie ministers of. the various Churches will he pleased to receive contributions from those who arc unable to attend that service. All anonymous corespondent sent me 10s tins morning for the fund. It is proposed to send the sum contributed through the mission agents of the Churches. In this way we shall make sure that it reaches the victims of the famine.—Yours, etc.. WILLIAM GRANT.
