ACCLIMATISATION SOCIETY.

Tho annual mooting of tho East Coast Aclimntisation Society was held ill the Masonic Hotel on Saturday Mr. T. Holden presoiding. As the annual meeting last year lapsed ioi want of a quorum, the balance sheet for 1905-6 was presented. It showed receipts £142 3s and expenditure £73 12s 6d. This was adopted. The question of accounts for the past year was left over until a future meeting. ■ Mr. T. Holden was elected president and Mr. J. R. Redstone vicepresident. COUNCIL DEFUNCT. The secretary stated, in reply to Mr. F. J. Lysnar, that no reports had been received . from the Council of the Society-: Mr. Lysnar said the Council deserved a' vote of censure for their neglect. -■ ... .. 'the secretary said that according t'o the regulations the Council must consist of twelve members with a committee of seven. Mr. Hansen said that if it had not been for two or three members the Society would have died long ago. _ On the proposition of Mr. H. N. Lysnar, the president, vice-president and- secrotary were empowered to carry on the work of the Soeioty. TROUTING THE STREAMS. Mr. Redstoiie said that Mr. John Hutchinson would pay expensos if the Society would get him some fish to put in the streams at his place. Tlie secretarj'-said that Messrs H. Tiffcn and Faulkner had made similar requests. It was decided to supply ova for these settlers who had made requests, the cost to be charged up in the usual way.

It was stated that Mr J. C. Steele, Whare’kopac, had offered to build a hatchery if the society would supply the ova. The secretary was authorised to correspond with Mr Steele in the matter. - ..

He would act, if approved, as ranger for the Society. it was decided to appoint Mr.Jacksoil ranger at Motu, and Mr. Hansen, at To Araron, others to be appointed throughout the district. It was decided to offer a reward’ of £lO for information leading to the conviction of anyone shooting without a license, or. out of season. Mr. Hansen was appointed chief ranger. It was also decided to approach the County Council with the object ol having bares protected. Tlio secretary and chief ranger’s salaries were fixed at £lO a year.
