BALL AT TUPAROA.

The AVaiupu Slieo]> Dor Trinl Club held their first annual ball in Tnpnrnn dumping shed on Friday ,tlie sth, at which a la roe number of people from different parts of the Coast, were present, some enterprising ladies having ridden thirty-five* miles in one day to lie present. The ball was tastefully decorated with nikau and lycopodium,the supper table being decorated with eosmea. The AVaiupu Orchestral Society provided tho music for the first half of the programme, the ereat Jeature of the evening being Mr. C. Davies’ lino cornet playing, the suoeess of the evening being mainly due to their efforts. Mr. 'l'. Reedy supplied tho music for the second half with great success. A splendid supper was provided by the ladies. Tho floor was in fine order, and dancing was kept up to an early hour. During the evening Mr Oates, in a short and appropriate speech, presented the prizes to the successful competitors at tho club’s late meeting. Great credit is due to the committee. who worked hard to make everything a success. Amongst'those present were: Mrs. AVickstead, in a stylish black gown ; Mrs. Brodrick, in black voile, with lace trimmings; Mrs Duff, in soft white, trimmed with red; Airs. Poole, heliotrope blouse, dark skirt; Mrs. Napier, in black; Airs. O’ltyan, in black; Airs. Roytliornc, in red blouse and dark skirt; Airs. Kirk, white; Atrs. Oates, black ; Airs. Earnshaw, in black. relieved with white; Afrs. lilacklaws, in black; ARs. Hughes, black, trimmed with pink; Airs. Maddox, black, trimmed with heliotrope; Miss AA’all, black, with lace trimmings over pink; Aliss AVilliamson, silk muslin over blue, trimmed with roses; Aliss Puree, a pale'pink; Aliss AA’atorliouso, red; Aliss Sherratt, painted chiffon over blue; Aliss 11. Sherratt, blue; Aliss Jones, pink, trimmed with red f Aliss Orr, pale blue silk taffeta, white lace berthe; Aliss Afaloney, blue satin trimmed with white lace; Aliss Roythoren, blue blouse, lace frill, and dark skirt; the Misses Downey, in white; Aliss Alahouey. white; Aliss Pilcher, white; Aliss Geisler, white; Miss Rosa Milner, White; Aliss Dalton. pink nun's veiling, trimmed with blue; Aliss Jane Reed, red trimmed net.
