During tho past wools members of tho abovo club took every advantage to indulge in their favorite game, and as a result tho games for tho club’s championship were woll advanced. Other gamoß woro also played of an interesting nature. Tho rosults woro: HANDICAP FOURS.
McSkimming ,McConnell, Hallam, Martin (skip) 22 v. Ilird, Mackrell, Dennett, Sawyer (skip) 13. —This game was the first in the competition for tho medals prosontod by the President. Sawyor’s team did not on the whole play uj) to expectations, and thus their opponents rather easily defeated them. It is expected that another game in tho first round will ensue next Thursday afternoon, when tho teams skipped respectively by Colley and Nasmith (jnr.) will meet. CHAMPION CUP.
For the above Cup presented by Mr C. J. Bennett koen competition is ensuing, every player meeting every player. The results so far are: First round: Morrison defeated Morse, Hallam defeated Jouno, Martin defeated Sheet, Colley defeated Lucas, Nasmith (senr.) defeated Hepburn, Mackrell defeated McConnell Second round: Lucas defeated Sheet, Colley defeated Joune, Nasmith (jnr.) defeated Morrison, Nasmith (senr.) defeated Mackrell. Third round: Colley defeated McConnell, Martin defeated Mackrell, Nasmith (senr.) defeated Joune, Hepburn defeated Morrison. Fourth round: Colley defeated Nasmith (senr), Morrison defeated Martin, Hepburn defeated Jouno. Fifth round: Morrison defeated Joune, Hepburn defeated Mackrell. Sixth round: Nasmith (senr) defeated Morrison, Joune defeated Mackrell. Tho following is the position of the various players after tho first week’s play: Played, Won. Lost. GISBORNE. A return match between the above clubs has been arranged for Thursday week. The games are to take place at the Turanganui Club’s green, and it is expected good play will be witnessed.
A match is also being talked of between teams representing the junior or second year players of each club, also a contest between a senior team from each club; but so far nothing definite has been decided.
