The editor of the German comic paper, Simplicissmus, has been sentenced 'to three months’ imprisonment for publishing a picture libelling the Woermann steamship line. PRETORIA, April 8.
The Transvaal Government have appointed Mr Stoikenstroon chairman, Messrs Spencer and Franck, representatives of the mines, Mr Cresswell, white labor advocate, and Mr Whiteside, Laborite, as a Commission to enquire into the possibility of more white labor finding employment at the mines, also as to mechanical substitutes for colored labor.
SYDNEY, April 9. The steamer Easby is a total wreck. The crew are safe ashore at Gabo. Two thousand five hundred guineas has been refused for Collarit. The reserve was fixed at 3500 guineas.
