PORT AWANUI
(From our own Correspondent.) 1 have just had the pleasure of inspecting Mr D. W. Duff’s additions to Rdke Hotel, and I think, taking all tho improvements, that it will compare with most hotels on the Coast. There are four very nice comfortable rooms added upstairs, and all tlie other rooms have been re-furnished and newly papered, and there are new stairs and fire escape, making the hotel one of tlie best in tlie Waiapu licensing district. Hot and cold water is laid on to tlie hath room, making the hotel one of the most comfortable to stay at on the Coast.
Tlie Magistrate liad a very busy dav on Monday, but in most of the cases defendants pleaded guilty, curtailing proceedings considerably. Tlie Waiapu Racing Club had very fair nominations for their races on the 25tli inst., and with good weather ought to have a successful meeting.
At tho library meeting to-day it was decided to have a dance, in the big wool shed next month (if the wool is shipped by that time) to raise funds for more books.
