WORK AND WAGES.
Received 9.5 S p.m. March 19. PERTH, March 19. Trouble has again arisen ill the timber trade. Employees at Jarrahdale and K a imp 'refused to accept the Arbitration Court award, fixing the minimum wage at 7s 3d for eight hours twenty-five minutes per day’s work, and struck for Ss and S hours’ day. The demand was conceded, and work resumed. Trouble is expected in other centres.
Press Association. TIM ALi U, yesterday. Ten of the l’areora slaughtermen resumed work this morning without making any further objection. There arc now 19 butchers at work there, ten killing freezers and nine potters. Tlie butchers who decline to work
have been given notice r that .they will have to leave tlio company’s boardinghouse at the works to make room for men who will work.
AUCKLAND, yesterday. Tlio Auckland Master Butchers’ Union having discussed the demands of the butchers and slaughtermen as submitted to tlie Arbitration Court, appointed a committee to prepare counter proposals and .deal generally with the case coming before the Court.

A local ex-striker says he sees no objection to tlio stipulation in tlio north in regard to fines for mistakes. There were 17 men employed at AVallacetown this morning and 20 at Malania. The agreement entered
into is tlie same as that obtaining at Christchurch, except for a slight variation to suit local conditions. From 30,000 to 35,000 sheep and lambs were on tlie Southland Frozen Meat Company’s hooks at the time oi the strike, and of course those will receive first attention, and when put through tlie way will bo clear for others to come forward. Both sides are pleased that an understanding has been arrived at, as incon- ) enionce resulted to the companies, and the men could not afford to remain idle, -
