CHARITABLE AID BOARD
The Charitable Aid Board met yesterday evening. Present: Messrs. Wliinray (in the chair), F. J. Lysnar, Miller, Webb, and Matthews. It was decided that the clerk and chairman have power to act in the matter of a family in distress. The Custodian of the Home was granted three weeks’ leave of absence on full pay. Mr. Webb said the leave was wellearned. The Old People’s Home was, he thought, absolutely the cleanest in the colony. The clerk and chairman were given power to make the best possible arrangements for the keeping of two neglected children. The number of inmates in the Home was reported to be eleven. Accounts totalling £66 5s 6d were passed for payment. The visiting committee for tho ensuing month is to consist of Captain Tucker and Mr. Lysnar. The plans for the proposed isolation ward were considered. Dir. Lysnar thought tho building should be enlarged, but members were generally of opinion' that it was quite large enough to accommodate all tho patients that would ever go there. Dir. Webb thought that as the Borough water would bo laid to the building by the time it was finished, the tanks shown on the plan should be cut out.—This was done.
On the motion of Mr. Matthews seconded by Mr. Webb, the plans were approved, and will he sent to iho Health Department for approval. The question of admitting a pensioner to tho Home was loft in the hands of the visiting committee.. The meeting then adjourned. ’
