A fire at Elsmermvick destroyed the whole stock of cars (seventeen) of the St. Kilda-West Brighton electric tramway. As a result business on the line has been suspended till new cars are built. The cause is a mystery. The electric current was cut off at the time of the outbreak, the fire starting in the manager’s office. The damage is roughly estimated at £15,000. N
