POLO TOURNAMENT.
The East Coast Polo Association’s Tournament was continued yesterday, when Poverty Bay (scratch) met Waiapu (11 goals) in the final for the Handicap Cup, and were the victors by three goals/ after an excellent game. Alessrs. Arnold, Williams,-and Sherratt acted as umpires, the former also supplying tea. Aliss Reynolds presented the cups, which were the gift of the President (Mr. Chambers), who made a short speech, Air. Alurphy replying. Cheers were given for the ladies, the beaten teams, and for Air. F. Hall, for the use of the ground, and the health of the Poverty Bay Club was drunk. In the evening the annual dance was held at the Theatre Royal, a large number being present. Excellent music was supplied by Gittos’ orchestra, and a sumptuous supper was provided by Air. Dustin. The tournament will conclude today with a sports programme under the auspices,of the Mangaheia Club. The first event will ’be tho Polo Cup, 4 furlongs, for which' there are 19 entries, which will be run on the Makaraka racecourse. Afterwards bending competitions, a polo ball race, thread-the-needlo race, whistling and cigar races will take place at The Willows.”
