KAISER’S DINNER LIMIT.
EFFORT TO CHECK LUXURY. Tho Kaiser’s repeated efforts to repress tho sybaritism of Gorman military officers seems to have had little effect, and His Majesty is credited with having issued fresh orders that they abandon their luxury and simplify their modo of life. He messed lately with tho officers of a smart lancer rogiment at Portsclam, who thought they would honor their Imperial guest by a sumptuous display of delicacies and wines, including a variety of the costliest French champagnes. His Majesty did not throw a damper on his entertainers by a personal robuko, but he subsequently issued an order through the Ministry of War that ho wished all such luxuries stopped, and directing that when oven ho was tho guest of tho officers of any regment the menu be limited to soup, fish, vegetables, a joint, butter, and cheese, with only one kind of red or white wine, punch and a single glass of champagne. There must be no liqueurs or other after dinner, boverages.
