CRICKET.
The team to represent the Poverty Bay Cricket Association against the East Coast "Wanderers at the Vkitoria Domain on Friday next will consist of the following: R. G. Hallamore, H. Robinson, Dr. Collins, Hugh Whyte, J. Lang, D. M. Gorman, J. MeConncll, J. O’Hara, P. Ilbert, Wilson, and W. Gibson. Emergencies : Hill, Maude, Sheridan and D. Barry. The match will be an all-day match, commencing at 10.30 a.m. The Wanderers,after playing in the foregoing match, leave for Auckland (on Saturday morning) to play a series of matches against the City clubs.
ST. PATRICK’S SPORTS. St. Patrick’s Sports Committee met last night, when a considerable amount of business in connection with tho forthcoming event was gone through. Tho City and Gisborne private bands tendered for supplying music for the day. Both tenders were equal, and a ballot was taken, resulting in favor of the City Band.
Messrs J. -Visin'it, I l ’. Malier, J. J. Martin, and W. Howard were appointed a committee to receive entries for tlio Hospital race, a popular item of the day’s sports, which should he well patronised. The programme as published has been approved by the Metropolitan Club of Hawke’s Bay, conditional that one of the horse races be made a mile. It was consequently decided to alter the distance of event No. 16, a half-mile scurry, to one mile, to comply with the conditions.
