LONDON, March 1. Mr. Robertson, Financial Secretary to the Admiralty, in reply to Mr Henniker Heaton, regarding fresh meat used by' the Navy, said there Mere no Admiralty records showing the proportion purchased from the cclonies. Mr. Haldane gave a similar reply regarding fresh meat used by the army. He said there were no fresh statistics regarding the sources of fresh meat used. •

In reply to Air. Rowland Hunt, Air. Haldane stated in regard to preserved meat the colonies were invited to tender to meet every' demand, but owing to the drought and shortness of stock colonial firms were not always able to quote for delivery, and v. ere beaten in many cases by price. Air. Balfour, in the Army Estimates debate, deprecated the extinction instead of reform of the militia. Too much reliance was placed on volunteer artillery without stiffening from the regulars.

Air. Perks, speaking at Louth, declared that the Nonconformists would lien allow dis-establisliment being shunted for a Catholic University' for Ireland. Received 4.30 p.m. Alarch 3. Lord Crewe, in a speech at Doncaster, said the Government’s coming Irish measure was not incompatible with a larger policy which might be advanced at some future day if the three Kingdoms desire it.
