There are limits to the dauntless courage even of the champions of women’s rights. At the conclusion of the meeting held in the Caledonian Society’s rooms (says the Press), the gas was twice turned almost out, by some impatient person, before some twenty fair protestants of their sex’s powers had left the room, and the little screams that broke from some of these on finding themselves in the dark, might have occasioned some abashment on their part if the temporary eclipse that caused their fear had not also veiled the identity of those that yielded to such weakness.
