“AMERICA AT WORK.”
“0f making books there is no end,” says the prophet. “Of moving pictares tkere is no limit,” say the public. And wkf do the people go on reading books? Simply because they want to; it- improves their knowledge for one thing. And so does the moving picture, but it- has got to be something now every time. This almost insatiable appetite of the public has led the management- of Edison’s Popular Pictures to bring to our doors what- they describe as a eomjilete outfit of all that is latest and best in the motion-picture machine direct from Edison’s factory in America. AYith the plant is, we are assured, a splendid array of films, which will convey to the public the mode of life of the up-to-date American. The pictures will give the “show places” of the United States, its beauty spots, its main thoroughfares, its'miles of railroads, its vast expanse of bridgework. its manufactories. and indeed glimpses of v all that is to be seen within the compass of two hours, and without the worry nnd fatigue of travel, of that up-to-date country and its people. The humorous side of life is not forgotten in Edison’s programme, there being numerous films of a comic nntre. The management recently concluded a most successful season of 14 weeks in Sydney, and from the press notice we have seen it is evident the public will see something exceptional on Saturday 2nd, Monday 4tli. and Tuesdav sth'. With the pictures appears Little Bessie Sutton, who creates a most favorable impression. She is eiglit years old, and is an accomplished artist. The box plan Is at Aliller’s, wherescats may bo booked without extra charge.
