NEW EARMARKING SCHEME

Mr Maddison was given a trial of his earmarking scheme at the Matawhoro saleyards yesterday. Messrs Fiold and Hall, of the Farmers’ Union, and about 12 or 15 farmers were present. _ Before drafting the sheep criticism was made that tho sizo of the earmarks should be somewhat larger. The sheep were drafted through the race in a satisfactory manner, showing that this can be done, oven as the marks are at present. AA r lien the marks arc enlarged it will bo very’ much easier still to work. The question of the size of tho marks will be submitted later on to the Farmers’ Unions throughout the colony.
