Frozen produco intended for immediate spatch to interior points is discharged direct from ship to insulated railway waggons lying under cover alongside, thus avoiding exposure or double handling, whilst lo.cal requirements are conveyed from ship’s side in specially prepared carts or railway waggons to cold stores owned by - tho Manchester Corporation or tho Union Cold Storage Company Limited. In order to provent delay to the steamers and deterioration to frozen produco requiring to bo sortod before delivery to railway waggons or carts, the Canal Company have insulated a portion of one of tho floors of tho four-floored transit shed at the discharging berth of the Federnl-Houlder-Sliiro steamers.
