Press Association. WELLINGTON, last night. Tho Port Nicholson Amateur Athletic Club and Civil Service Amateur Sports Clubs held a combined athletic meeting on tho Basin Reserve yesterday afternoon. The weather was beautifully fine, and there was a large attendance of tho public, many being drawn to the ground by the announcement that Kerr, the walker, was to attack some of the existing records. In the mile walk he conceded starts to lmin. 35secs. Tho winner of the event was R. Hayes, with lmin. 30secs. start. Cashman was second, and Kerr third. Kerr’s time was 6min. 27 1-5 see, which is 1 l-osec. over his New Year’s Day time, but l-osec better than the previous New Zealand record made by Creamer. In the two mile walk Kerr conceded starts up to two minutes 30 seconds, and walking in fine style, won in 13min. So 4-ssec, beating the New Zealand record by 16 1-5 sec. The world’s record for this distance is 13min. 11 sec. Tracey, 2min. lOsec., was second, and T. Lambert, lmin. 55sec., was third. The one mile fiat handicap was won by IV.
