Lady Sarah Wilson (nee Isabella Augusta Churchill, daughter of the seventh Duka of Marlborough) is at present on a visit to Wellington. Lady Wilson achieved celebrity at the time of the South African war. to which she went out as a hospital nurse. At the siege of Mafeking she was one of the beleaguered people, anil did much to keep up the spirits of the garrison by organising entertainments, etc. In conjunction with Major-General Badeu-Powcll she published a newspaper at Mafeking during the same period. She was captured by the Jjoers outside Mafeking, but eventually was exchanged for a notorious Boer prisoner. Ladv Wilson is the wife of Major Gordon Chesney Wilson, of the Koval Horse Guards, who served on the staff in South Africa, and was twice mentioned in despatches, besides receiving the Queen’s medal and three clasps.
