MISHAP TO SCHOONER.

RETURN OF THE AAVANUI. The schooner Awanui (Captain Ciilfp) returned to port at midnight on Saturday. Curiosity was aroused by the i ebum of the vessel so soon after her departure for the North, and that curiosity was increased by the jagged butt of a broken bo-.vs-piit. A report from the captain was not available last night, and those seen aboard the vessel were reticent on the subject, and icferred press representatives to rho Captain for informaion. Enquiries made, however, from other sources, give information to the effect that during a calm off the East C’ape the schooner Awanui and the scow AVaikoninidrifted together with the result that the schooner sustained the damage to the bowsprit, which necessitated her returning to port for repairs.
