POVERTY BAY CRICKET ASSOCIATION. .

A special general meeting of the above Association was held at noon yesterday to consider the following telegram from the secretary of the Hawke’s Bay Cricket Association: “Could you play us all-day match next Saturday. Reply to-day. Sleeting to-night. Every prospect our going. E. Smyrk.” It was decided to send the following reply: “Regret cannot accept your offer, as fixture arranged for Saturday with Motu Club. Will gladly play next week. Letter following.” Tlie usual weekly meeting of the Management Committee was held last evening at the British Empire Hotel. It was decided to postpone fixtures for Thursday and Saturday next, in order that a representative team might proceed to Motu, Messrs, J, O’Hara, R. 4V. Cary, and Y\ r . Gibson were appointed a selection committee to choose the representative eleven, in view of the probable visit of a Hawke’s Bay eleven to Gisborne next week. It was decided to grant Common Shelton and Co.’s Club the use of No. 1 wicket at Victoria Domain on Thursday next for their fixture with the Waingako Club. It was decided to play a match on Saturday next at Victoria Domain, Wanderers v. a selected team, the following eleven being chosen to represent the latter: "VVack, Cox, Gorman, Cato, Gardiner, Whvte Monk, J. Gibson, Hill, Holscliie’r, and Charles.

THE MOTU TRIP. Tho following eleven leave for the Motu on Thursday next:—R. G. Hallamore, Dr. Collins. W. Gibson, R. W. Cayy, H. Robinson, H. Sharp, H. Callan, J. Lang, O. It. Olson, J. V. Macdonald, and W. Andrews. The team meets at the Masonic Hotel at 12 to-day to make final arrangements for tho trip. This is the first occasion on which a Gisborne eleven has visited the. Motu, though the latter’s representatives have twice played in Gisborne. The Gisbornites will attend the Motu sports on the Friday, and play the match on Saturday next.
