Jhe largest representative meeting ot the hriendiy Societies Conference yet hold took place last night in the Masonic Hall there being only three absentees. The following resolution was carried: That this Conference regrets that the Chairman of the Hospital Trustees at a recent meeting deemed fit to refer to Friendly Societies as “caballers” (intriguers) because they ventured to suggest as citizens a betterment of the present system of hospital management, and sincerely trust that the Chairman will see fit to withdraw the term “caballers” as regards the Friendly Societies in this district.It was decided that this resolution is to he forwarded to the Secretary of -the Hospital ’Trustees. At a meeting of the Ancient Order of Foresters held on Tuesday night, the Mowing resolution was unanimously passed with instructions that it be forwarded to the Board of Trustees for consideration: “That this Lodge regrets that the Chairman of the Hospital Trustees at a recent meeting deemed fit >to refer to this and kindred Lodges as “caballers” or intriguers, because they ventured to suggest as citizens a betterment of tlio present system of hospital management, and sincerely trusts +f«at the Chairman will sue fit to v.-updraw tlio term caballers as rognAfs this and kindred Lodges.’
